What specs do I need for high traffic site?

I'm thinking of upgrading from shared to a VPS but I don't have any experience in using a VPS so I don't know what specs I'll need. I have a 10k+ unique daily traffic site and I don't know how much ram I'll need for that amount of traffic

 

Is your site mysql based and did ur host asked u to upgrade ??

 

tell us what kind of site it is.. a static HTML site would run fine on most any shared-host w/10,000+ per day.. on the other-hand, a poorly configured CMS could choke the biggest of dedicated servers with the same amount of traffic..

 

My site is powered on wordpress so yes it's mysql based I even have it cached. My host did not ask me to upgrade but told me I was using too much mysql resource.
