What sort of code is this in a .tpl file?

    I've got an .exe program that generates webpages, it uses .tpl files that are located locally in it's installation dir under /Program_Files/ so these .tpl aren't used server side.

    They have unreadable rubbish such as:

    oJÉEVô=bv)kÆ+ÝN;Z€ÇEöâ“9w$¤\ûÆüCšö)s–[*î.¸±QqâbeC)uZM0[§ÕÚž¡‚d"±2ŒóðZbk¹j#¸Þ’#9'.
    Code (markup):
    Any idea what program/app i can use to view/edit them as readable code, and resave back to the above?

    a .tpl file is simply a template file, they mostly contain html. Try opening the file up using notepad or dreamweaver!

    Yeah i've worked with regular .tpl files a lot, with Smarty and back in my phpBB days however this isn't regular html/css.

    I use Notepad++

    These .tpl files are used by an .exe program, they are not server side templates.

    Rep for the fast reply anyway. :)

    Are you sure that the program that you are using does not have a built in web interface or a built in local server, I have installed many different types of programs that use these file types and didn't realize it but they used a web browser and the local server that they used was a built in service that opened with the program and closed with it.

    Might I ask what software it is?

    It doesn't have a web interface or local server, the program generates webpages and saves them in a folder as regular .html pages which you then FTP.

    The program allows you to input keywords and other data, then it makes the page however the whole page layout is controlled by this .tpl so i want to change things in the pages it produces.

    For example the html pages have:

    So i want to remove this, i "could" open the .html page in Notepad++ after it's made and remove it but if i generated 200 pages this would take forever.

    The .tpl is some sort of data the .exe interprets, here is a screenshot of it in Notepad:

    yeah it definitely look like encoded. The company behind your exe file did it to protect their files from being ripped off and used by other people
