What software(s) do you use if any to track all your webpage stats? Stats such as daily visits per page, and clicks for different links on a page. Is there a software that I can install on my server, or cpanel that will do the things I listed here without me needing to paste code on all my webpages individually?
If you are using cpanel, there should be stats software already installed like awstats. If you have access to your raw logs, there are many software programs you can use.
Use Google Analytics. This will give you lots of stats including where the visitors are coming from and it will show how long each page is viewed.
I already mentioned "without me needing to paste code on all my webpages individually" Google Analytics needs me to paste code on all my webpages. I don't want to do have to do that. I already have Awstats but it does not show daily visits per page, it only shows monthly visits.
Yes, Google should make Analytics like it's Webmaster Tools which only require user to upload a single file for it to start tracking the website instead of modifying and adding code on all the webpage. I am also interested to know which providers provide such service.
I recommend using Google Analytics and Google webmaster tools combined! Google Analytics will gather all data abut traffic your site is getting, and Google webmaster tools will provide performance of your individual pages and posts (traffic from keywords search on Google...). Using both of these tools can help you to decide on which traffic sources you want to focus more, and for which keywords you want to optimize your pages and posts in that manner. If you submit your sites sitemap to webmaster tools, you can expect better SERP's for content on your site. Also you can use bitly to track clicks on the links on your site! P.S. To install Google analytics code on your site, use this WordPress plugin 'GA Google Analytics'. Hope you have WordPress installed! use
I've been using Google analytics for a long while, sometimes supplemented by StatsCounter. But, with all this Big Data and PRISM stuff - I see the value in hosting and "owning" your stats data and I'm looking to move to Pikwik and other scripts like AWStats. If you're serious about your business and websites, you really should start taking back your data and looking to "own" it, rather than letting 3rd party companies like Google be the gate keeper of important metrics like your traffic, engagement and conversions.
There's a million ways to do it. If you have wordpress, get wp-stats. If you use cpanel, there is built in tracking. If you're using raw html, use google tracking. If you want to track particular links, use pretty link lite.
If you use hostgator to host your sites they have an "easy analytics integration" option in their cpanel. You just need to paste the UA code from your analytics account and paste it in, and the script injects it into every web page.
Totally agree with your post man. Keep your data for yourself with other programs like Slincon listed. With Analytics, Google analyses websites so he can steal your traffic later with all the tools hes developing... Dead serious for those with big traffic and cool ideas websites !
I think one of the best analytics service out there is statcounter. Have been using them from more than 4 years and am totally satisfied with their service. Their user interface is pretty simple and they have many features. Completely free though they have paid options as well.
