What software and plug-in were used to create this effect?

    On this site in top left corner there are two logos that switch dynamically with a cool effect.

    I tried disabling the JavaScript and the effect still worked. Only after I disabled plug-ins the effect was gone. I am curious what plug-in does this?
    What software was used to create it?
    Can this be a gif image?

    If I see something cool happening, I tend to right-click first to see if I get a flash options or if it's the standard options. That will then narrow it down for me.
