No matter what you want to do with WordPress, you must first understand the basics in this area. The core of WordPress is built using standard web coding languages PHP and MYSQL. The front-end page is a combination of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX.

You need those skills, but you need to be really good. It takes ages to really understand how to utilise WordPress, and it gets harder all the time.

Your bigger issue is going to be coming up with an idea. There's no point creating another directory script, another contact form. Even security has been done. You need to come up with something innovative that a large number of users are going to think "I didn't know I needed that, but yes, I do" and click buy. You get those ideas by working in the industry, talking to clients, writing one-off bespoke plugins that you can't sell to anyone else. Something will spark one day, and you'll see your opportunity.

Yeah. That's true. It's need so long time. Just learning basic programming is not enough to make a WordPress themes or plugins. One of my friend learn Wordpress then he maybe 5 years later sell a theme on themefore. It's all about practice, dedication and inspiration. It's depend on how much time spend to learn something and how much tried.

I have a course for this on Udemy. I see it's no longer accepting enrollments but you might check to see if others are available there.

Nothing wrong with doing that. Focus on the skills you have and outsource the rest.
