I'm making a website and just wanted to know what the majority of people's screen sizes are?

I heard most people have 15 inch screens, but I'm not entirely sure lol :p

okk thx guys, what would you guys recommend for making the layout of a website.

How would I auto fit the layout so it would fit 15 inch, 17 inch, 19 inch?? :)

I think if you check out some of the major players you will find that most sites are designed to look good at 800x600 and a few move up to 1024x768.

I am sure as the installed base of larger monitors grows that will change but IMO that is the defacto standard for today.

A direct answer to your question, I currently run 1024x768 on a 17". I just don't enjoy looking at anything smaller with my old eyes.

I am blind so I use a 19 inch CRT monitor with a 1024 X 768 resolution. I have no idea what my next monitor will be for size and resolution, perhaps a 21 inch LCD with too small a resolution.

    20" widescreen.

One of the best ways to make your site adjustable to monitor sizes is to make it scalable rather than trying to micromanage each individual width and pixiel.

I almost made a major mistake so let me share it with you. A lot of the new flat screen 19,20 and above don't work worth a diddly squat if you try to set them lower than their "native resolution". The 19" was terrible if you went below the 1280x1024 native setting.

After seeing that I just moved my 17" closer and went to my current 1024x768. Like you I'm not sure what I am going to do. I could handle the 1280x1024 on a 19" at this distance but I would like to regain the space for the pile of paper that always seemed to reside there. :)
