Someone offered me to design a page for him something like my website. Where in they can update content automatically. can anyone guide how much should one charge for such website.
No less than £100 per page anyway. Is http://www.adsensehelp.info/ your site iamzak? It looks nice - I presume its Joomla, it has that Joomla feel about it, but an attractive design anyway. £100 per page is just basic design - if they want coding, images etc then the price should rocket. It also depends what it is for - it's for a small non-profit community group, then, well, just ask what their budget is and try and fit your work around that, but if your friend expects to make money out of the site then charge a rate that is suitable to that purpose. My penny's worth anyway
My Web Instuctor doesn't take less than $45 an hour for his work and alot more if the design takes alot of work. So yeah. You prolly shoudnt charge that much un less you have like 15+ years experience. Maybe like 20/h
thanks for taking time for my website and helping me with the information. It's really great that people aer ready to help others and yes i have used joomla
^ Yes by the hour rate is best you'll make more money and be prodded to produce a better design that way.
You'll want to read these. They were extremely useful to me when I started out: http://www.sitepoint.com/article/freelance-pricing-1-set-rate http://www.sitepoint.com/article/pricing-2-quoting-win http://www.sitepoint.com/article/web-work-should-charge http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=389195
I'd charge a standard fee (say £100) for a one page design. Then add £25 for each other page they want (as long as it uses the same layout). But one that updates itself you'd need to go by the hour. Keep a diary of what you did and how long it took you, so if they question how long you worked on it you can show them that (you'll want to show them it anyway, just as a breakdown of cost or something). Add on extra charges for any stock photos, sounds, videos, etc. you have to buy to do it (even if they are only $1 each).
