If I were to start up a new site with a goal of making about $100/month from Adsense....what should I make?

hi Twan. I'd suggest it should be something you are interested in. maybe a hobby or sport, which other people are also interested in.

choose whatever you want. But choose with a primary aim of creating quality content and secondary aim of making money from adsense.
Fan sites can attract decent traffic alright, but I am not so sure about the money part

Make sure you develop your site topic first... then you can go out and get affiliate products that "compliment" this topic.

In the case of wrestling, if you wrote a wrestler bio for example, sign up for an affiliate program that has this wrestler's action figure, t-shirts, cd's etc.

The real key to success is the ad placement on the page... I would do some research on other sites in your industry after you have decided on a site topic. See what they sell and where on the page they have the ads placed. I am not advising you to copy, but you can always learn from someone who already has experience in your industry.

Then I would work on the professionalism of my writing and overall site design so as to build credibility and "website stickiness".

Over time you will build a readership and the monetization angles will present themselves as you learn more about the topic your website tackles.

If you can work in some sort of community angle by offering a free tool or service this is also a great way to get people looking at your ads repeatedly.

Well written, professional looking websites make your promotion much easier as well.

    Good luck!

You only need 3$ a day, so let's say about 30 clicks a day in a "honestly performing" keyword field.
To have 30 clicks a day you'd need about 250-350 unique visitors daily with an excellent ad placement.

It's not too easy, but you have plenty of choice, I couldn't recommend you one in particular.

Whatever the subject will be, you should know about it, and very interested in it. Have in mind that even that 100$ is not much it can take you up to 1 year of hard work to make that income.

So you must be persistant about this. Good luck with your site :)
