What should I promote using my list?

I sell an eBay auction sniping software and also have a web-based version which requires continuous payments to use this service. I have over 7000 on my list of the software and over 800 pounds of live dates surface... I'm sorry my voice-recognition seems to have had a slight issue... that should have been over 800 on the web based service.

The only thing I promote currently are discounts on the web-based service fees, but what else could I promote?

I will eventually make a version of this software designed for eBay sellers, but would like other things to promote in the meantime.

    Thank you

    Nothing.

You want to piss everyone off?

Unless what you send out is specifically related to why they signed up in the first time, promoting anything without a specific purpose will just get people to drop off your list.

Until you figure out how to match a product with your users intentions you should leave it alone.

So then why is everyone here saying "You NEED a list!!!" if using it will piss the users off?

I don't really understand your reply, how is a list supposed to be used if not to advertise related products and services?

There is really nothing wrong selling products or services to the list, but make sure that its not something daily.. Try to provide them with some gud info, then they get trust on you and at the end of the week, just blast an email with some useful product or service (but make sure the product you sell is really a Quality ones...)

    Hi,

My suggestion is that you find something that complements what you are presently selling or something your subscribers actually need, and pitch to them.

As said above, keep it at the ratio of 4 to 1. When you dish out 4 good and helpful info to your list, you can then send 1 offer.

    I hope this helps.

Agreed, you should think about who your subscribers are and what needs they have.

For example, considering that your subscribers are all eBay users, they might be interested in a guide teaching them how to make money from eBay.

Sure, by mailing people you are going to annoy some people and get unsubscribes. But what most people don't realize is that by NOT mailing your subscribers, you can bet that they'll eventually forget who you are so that when you do get around to mailing them they're all the more to unsubscribe.

Fully agree! Give them useful info, then every now and then sell something that is of genuine quality that will help them.
