i suggest learning html and css while using a text editor. you can go hardcore and do it in notepad, it'll put hair on your nerdy chest , or you can use a html text editor which will help you keep track of your tags to make sure your closing them correctly. after you have a basic understanding you can upgrade to dreamweaver. dive into html and you'll see what i am talking about with closing tags. i recommend w3schools, google them i cant post links yet =\, they have basic tutorials with several examples and even try it yourself examples where you can open the code they have written their examples in and modify it to help you grasp the concept.
start with dream weaver and then end with html.if you want to learn web designing then you should go for all this=>adobe flash,dream weaver,corel draw,adobe photoshop
I learned HTML in notepad. Even though i use Dreamweaver, because i know how to actually code html without programs help, i can really use any HTML edit witch if you have every used a CMS you would find useful. So my answer would be learn HTML using only notepad. it may be a pain but it will help you in the long run, trust me.
for learning HTML you do not need Dreamviewer, Dreamviewer is not kind of something special their thousands of different alternative for it, i prefer using NotePad++ for programming, you can use your default notepad for learning HTML

If you want to get designing sites quickly, go with Dreamweaver. But if you really want to understand the coding behind it, then learn basic HTML first. W3schools have pretty good tutorials.
