What should I do?

A few days ago I get a email from this guy claiming I own this one site that has some of his copy written material linked on it (Links to rapidshare and megaupload) I tried to explain to the guy I do not own the site and to basically find the real owner but he just won't hear it. He keeps sending me emails saying that he is taking my ass to court over this and such. The guys gone as far has getting my IP trace routed and then emailed me my address and phone number saying look what he has and to expect the court papers in the mail. I spoke with my lawyer yesterday after I received this email. My lawyer basically laughed and said if this guy was legitimate his lawyer or him would of contacted ICann for the domain registers IP address and gone from there instead of emailing a random person. My lawyers told me if I wanted to I could sue the guy for harassment since he has to my knowledge illegally obtained my personal identification.

So basically what should I do? See what happens? Run and sue him?

Since some of you may be asking why the guy is going after me, about two years ago I used to administer a warez forum that had some of the guys stuff linked to. Now since then I no longer own the forum and have moved away from that kind of stuff. But he thinks since another website that has a linked to his material that it must be me and only me.

Not to be audacious but it is pretty obvious you're making up most of this

Talk to your lawyer, not us. He knows the full background and details of your case. Make sure you tell your counsel that you used to run the warez forum. Also given your sig link it doesn't look like you have "moved away" from that kind of stuff.

What because I run a hosting company that allows warez?...

And I never have run the website that he is claiming I own. I ran a previous one and when I got the complaints from him back then I removed the links in question.

My lawyers basically at a stand still, I can sue him for having the information he has and harassment. Or just let it go :) So I'm asking you guys what I should do. Be a dick and sue him for what ever I could get out of him or just let it go unless I get mail or phone calls from him?

I think you're a little confused as to what a traceroute is. ;)

There's nothing illegal about it, nor would he have to "get your IP trace routed" - takes one simple command line in a terminal. And it doesn't give you email addresses or physical locations - it literally just maps the route packets take over an IP network to arrive at their destination host.

Chances are this "illegally obtained" personal information is available in the public domain. Dig around a bit and you could probably find it yourself.

Avoid the embarrassment and just ignore his emails.
