What should I do, sudden jump in Adsense

    Hi,

Just noticed, there is a massive sudden jump in clicks on my google adsense, its more than 3 times that of previous day.

For past few weeks have been noticing some significant rise in clicks, that was gradual, but this one is massive spike.

As a precautionary measure, shall I report this to google or wait for a day or so, see the trend and then report.

I don't have any google tracking system, only I have is channels for respective sites.

    Thanks

massive spikes are normal, especially for low traffic sites.

Do what I do -- spend the money on beer. :D

Seriously, AdSense stats are terribly volatile.

Some advertiser will write a good ad and WHAM, you're feeling rich. Then their ad budget runs out and you're feeling poor.

The staff who read e-mail at AdSense don't have the clue required to help you. It's best to just wait for them to contact you, which I really really really doubt will happen.

    Thanks for all help...

At first instance I got a bit scary, that what happened. I just analysed my stats as well, there is a mojor surge in traffic from MSN and Yahoo in last 24 Hrs. May be that could be the reason.

Hope Price Chopper is open for beer! :D

Keep in mind if you do everything within the TOS of AS you are good. Remember Google wants to make the AS money too. ;)

No, is not.. They won`t shut you off unless you are actually doing something wrong. I once reported and they just replied me back that everyhing is normal.

I will go by Will's advice; spend the money on beer :)

If you are concerned that it may be fraud, reporting it to them before they report it to you is probably your best bet. If it's a surge in traffic because of a new ranking, then enjoy it. If it's a surge in click-throughs and not so much of a change in page views then it is probably a new well targetted ad or it could be fraud.

    Hi,

Thanks for input and feedback, just to share some stats.

Over past 48 hrs I have seen following increases:

    Individual Ad Unit: ~50% increase
    Page Views: ~ 60% increase

Traffic from one site: ~25% increase in unique, hits are by and large same with just 5% increase

Another important part that I noticed that not only I am getting significant traffic from MSN and Yahoo in last 48 Hrs. Traffic from google has suddenly increased.

BTW: Today as well is the same story as of yesterday, meaning its higher than what it was 2 days ago, but same as that of yesterday.

    yes for sure.

A point that I forget, one of my site alldotnet that runs adsense was in google sandbox till March 2005

    and

on my other site, webhostrank I moved up google header from bottom and applied images above ad unit, few days back.

Gee, you don't think it has anything to do with your Google 302 redirect bug exploiting site in your sig, WebHostRank, would it?

How did you miss this thread:

Perhaps you should do something about it before...

    Too late.

    Hi NetMidWest,

To be very honest, I really don't understand what Google 302 has to do with webhostrank site. I am using a pre designed script downloaded from dbmasters, is there anything wrong in that script? Any help would be greatly appreciated. As I really don't have clue regarding this.

BTW: FYI, the rise is adsense is more on alldotnet site.

    Hello,

An update! I checked with google and they have responded that they have reviewed my account and the changes in click pattern that I have seen are valid and accurate. They also wrote that I would be receiving the earnings for the clicks noted in your account.

    So! where is beer now.:D
