Ok well basically i purchased the domain name www.gadget-nation.com And i purchasded it with the intention of assigning it to a blog that will cover new innovations gadgets and technolgy in general Yesterday i actually began researching for this site and I found there is a website called gadgetnation.net and the guy who owns it is a really big innovator, his brand name gadget nation is well known. He has been on the news and has produced books and is a big name Shall i purchase another domain then or stay with this one? If i stay with this domian name will there be any problems with litigation e.t.c
There cannot be legal litigations since there is a hyphen that is setting off gadget and nation. The guy would have come a long way to reach a stage what you are seeing now. So don't give up but put in your efforts to promote your brand as well! Good luck to you!
A hyphen would make no difference in a trademark infringement case for this domain. Steven Greenberg has filed a federal trademark registration for Gadget Nation. You are certainly at risk for being sued - but you can never be sure if the trademark holder would come after you - now or down the road. If I was you, I would develop a different domain if you don't want the chance of having the domain taken from you in a WIPO action or being sued.
Do not send him an email offering to sell him the domain. It establishes bad faith. "Under the ACPA (Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act) a cybersquatter can be held liable for actual damages or statutory damages in the amount of a maximum of $100,000 for each name found to be in violation."
lol it is not a problem..site cant make any problem for you + you will get more visitors as you have another known name (in fact) too=)) haha just companies can WOIP domains,,and its not that easy...they should spend lots of $$ for it by the way keep the domain...and start your bussiness its the best choice :->
