What should I do next to promote my blog?

I recently started a gaming blog, hoping that I could manage to earn a few extra gas money, that I could use to pay for some more stuff I need for my game. Anyway, I'm new to all this, and I need some guidance.
This is what I did for now:
I submitted my site to google, submitted a sitemap (made with wp-sitemap plugin). I remade my permalinks so they would be: mm/dd/name . I ping the following addresses:

I also used WebCEO, which I find to be a really interesting piece of software, to submit my blog to allot of search engines. I'm working on building some neat and searched keywords, and I'm also adding new, 100% unique content to it daily, reviews and walkthroughs that I write myself after playing those games. Thing is, I heard people say that they get HUGE traffic even from the first day they launch their site, and I'm kinda worried. Is there something else I must to? Thank you for your time.

You need to build backlinks to it, lots of them, natural, relevant to your content and with anchor text containing your keywords. Not easy to do but it is possible.

Promote your site through social bookmarking and social networking sites such as facebook. You can also try twitter. Submit to directories and more.

Thanks for the tips guys. @Zukario Hm... submiting articles to article directories? How could that help me? By adding a URL towards my site in the header of the article?
