I wanted a .com domain, asked how much it was for sale for (if at all). They said $500. I said it's beyond my budget, my max is $125.. or something like that. Now they replied saying they can't go any lower, but will accept $300 for a limited time period (until friday). $300 is still a lot of money to me. But then again I'd really like the domain. It's kinda personal to me. Hmm.. Any advice? I have a code related .com name, maybe I should try and put that in exchange with a lower price? what would you do in this situation?
Counter that you really can't spend over $200 and thank them for their email but you'll keep looking for other domains. They might sell it to you then. If not, wait a week or so and make them an offer/inuqiry from another email address to save face If it's money-making rather than personal, think about how many days/months it would take you to make the difference. It's probably nothing in the scheme of things.
Thankyou for advice so far. Although selling something for $500 wont be easy. Maybe I will make the offer for $200 as suggested. Something like.. "Thank you again for your e-mail with a discounted offer. Although I am greatful I really cannot go anything beyond $200 for a site I wish to develop as a personal/hobby website. If the domain owner wishes to review my offer at a later date please contact me Regards, [my name]" ?? lol - im not too good with words.. Or maybe say $175 ? I'm really low on funds at the moment.. lol :/
For those wondering I was thankful but declined the offer of $300 due to it being way above my budget. I'll post anymore info as soon as I get it (if I get it)
