The price usually is 50 EUR for small guys + the cost of the domain & hosting .

For companies the price varies between 500 EUR for micro companies to 10.000 EUR for big ones and 10.000 + for corporations .

OFC it also depends on the complexity of the website . The prices listed above are for a purely informational website (5 - 20 pages ) whit no customs scripts . The bigger and more complicated the more the prices goes up .

As a rule of thumb you should have a profit of 200% to 2000% per webpage .

It totally depends on your outlook to the cause for which you are designing websites. If you are making or thinking to make your living out of this then it should go par with the industry standards which you will get to know if you watch the Buy Sell and Trade forum closely for some days. But remember one thing, if it is your long term goal to remain in position and quality then always justify whatever you charge for whatever you design with your efforts and skills.
You will find many senior guys charging $100 for a single page design, whereas many people make up a 20 page website for the same. Unless and until you are in a hurry to make money whatever you can, go for only those projects which you find worth enough for your skills and effort that you have to put in for the customer's success.

You also need to look at who your target market is. Are you targeting webmasters who know more then the average person when it comes to web design/development? If yes, then your rates will have to be lower to compete. If you are targeting offline clientele with little to no experience with working online (
you will have to hold their hand through the whole process) then the pricing and what you can charge will be much higher.

If you are new webdesigner, My suggestion would be for you to start with very minimal pricing so that you can get few long time customers for you self and you will gain some experience after you achieve some satisfied customer you may start charging more to them... Good Lu3k

Could you tell me why people ask so much for a web design? Some designs are so silly etc and they ask 100$ for it....Why is that?

It's depend on your skills and experience.. I think if you are just starting out you should charge a standard price until you are known in the industry and get enough biz to get more.

Start with minimum wage and when you have a good feedback and profile, there you can request for higher rate. Good Luck!

I guess it really depends on what all the customer needs on the website and what functions they require.

It also depends on your design work... the better it is the higher you will charge.

I say this because if your design work is outstanding, many people will keep looking for you to get their design job and since your time is also your asset, you will be forced to raise your prices... quality design commands high pay.

I know of a fellow countryman who does OUTSTANDING design work. Despite charging an arm and leg, people keep coming to him for design work. It has been many months (or manbe 1 year or 2) that his website is not live due to not being able to receive more orders. Now on his main website page, there is just a simple message on a plain white background : "Sorry, we are closed and will not be taking any more orders..."

I believe he's earning more than 30k monthly...

    Go figure..! :)

Charge as per your quality of work, experience and offcourse your need of $$$. As far as my expereince there are 3 types of client you might face,
    1. Clients who love quality design and ready to pay the price for it.
    2. Clients who doesn't bother about quality and go with a smaller restricted budget.
    3. Clients who demands quality and N number of revisions but stick to smaller restricted budget.

So it's upto you to sell your products with a suitable price tag on it to the right customer.
