What should Bing do?

Ok, so I'm new here and seeing a boat load of threads about Bing. Most are asking if they could possibly compete with Google or Yahoo. I myself think they can, but my question is what do you all think they need to do to be able to compete?
I here they have a large $100,000,000 budget, what should they do with it?
Amongst there large advertising campaign, they need to get permanent users.
Google is really popular and obviously the biggest, Yahoo has been around forever and has a name and there own internet service which gets them a lot of traffic. I think Bing should keep up the advertising but I think could get a lot of exposure by contracting with computer makers (HP,Compaq, etc) to ad there search engines to there browsers and make them there home page on new computers they sell.

Maybe my idea sounds silly so lets here yours.

I hate Bing, it's from Microsoft, so therefore I will hate it forever. It's one of the stupidest ideas in awhile, as in, have you seen them commercials? A search engine (according to bing, a search&decide engine) simply cannot give you the right information all of the time.

They already advertised, if you had Microsoft Windows, and you typed in "digitalpoint.org" and it was not registered, it would automatically goto Bing.com search engine.

It's junk, they should stop production.

    :):)

So far google still wins when I want to find something really specific...but for the most part bing works. They still got some work to do though.

I feel the time will do it for Bing to reach the level of google. Bing would do well not to become over-aggressive with his campaign as that would begin to bore the people! Instead, it should just concentrate on doing the promotions....efficiently and consistently! :)

Slow and steady wins the race. Hope Bing will keep this point in mind.

Bing is doing fine for 1 month old search engine. It will continue to grow in future. I have already started using Bing more often than Google. If bing can come up with something that would help webmasters just like Google Webmasters and Google PR etc. I think lots of webmasters will prefer using Bing making Bing's search result more relevant.

Bing is NOT a one month old engine. Bing is Microsoft Live with a new name and all the links that pointed to Live.
Why do you believe that? Yahoo has been around far longer and hasn't been able to do that. Why should Bing? In addition, Yahoo is a complete portal. Bing is search alone.
So Bing should count on gimmicks?

I believe bing has an upper hand of yahoo..

Every trend has its timing.... "In with new, Out with the old"....

The look is refreshing for normal computer users. I'm sure a lot of people enjoy opening up there browser and seeing a nice picture there :). It may not attract the webmasters atm, but there is alot less webmasters then normal computer users. In today's world first impressions count alot for people, I believe bing will grow big if they keep targeting the right things.

    Example:
    Webmasters hate vista..
Normal Computer user love vista cause it looks "clean,re-fresh,new"

This is one of the many reason why bing "Could" be really successful in the long term.

While i agree with Joe up there, that isn't the only thing bing has going for itself, there are in fact a lot more things that you need to understand when it comes to bing, just in example try doing a blind search for all three search engines, i was kinda surprised with my results, Bing has started coming up with excellent results :)

About the Bing Issue, I was just wondering why Bing
had easily increased its ranking. Bing has now the PR of 9 but why is it that
Google is still standing on its throne...
I just hope that the issue of competition would stop.

I did 100 searches using that same site a couple weeks ago. It was 89 Google, 11 Yahoo and 0 Bing. You would think Bing would get at least one vote just by pure chance and it didn't.

Joe up there is basing his guess on pure conjecture. Nothing so far shows Bing able to do anything but stay where it is mired in 3rd place. Bing was supposed to be the answer for us all. Bing has a $100 million ad campaign. But Bing can't even beat Yahoo.

Bing wants to be Google. Sorry, there already is a Google. There already is a Yahoo, too. We already have two hammers. We don't need another.

While i agree with you on that my friend, but the results i got were rather different :/ so i'm kinda surprised while i'm all with the MS bashing *Make no mistake about that* I think Bing'll be coming up in a few years or so it just needs to get it's act straightened out for once. =]
