Hi, I have my own directory site.. http://www.perfectdirectory.co.cc/. I am receiving approximately 300 submissions per day. So, can anyone suggest me what should be the approval rate for those submissions? Please let me know your point of view. TYA
You can't fixed your approval rate. This decision should be made on merit. All those websites that have quality content must be approved.
You have to decide about the quality of your own directory. The better quality sites you list the more likely your directory will be relevant.
There is no magic number Just depends on the quality of the submissions you get. If there is no charge to submit then you'll get more spam than if they get hit with a charge for each submission. The larger the fee for review the less total garbage you'll see as a percentage of submissions. Also, as stated above, your own threshold for quality may differ from that of another directory, so acceptance rates would vary on that score as well. To improve your ratios - Charge for review and enforce your requirements I've seen free queues where less than 95% of the submissions fit the criteria clearly described for a listing, and I've seen paid queues where the vast majority of submissions are listable. It would be insane to submit a ton of MFA spam at a big hit to your wallet for each if the directory is known to reject such listings. Make it your policy that the fee charged is for REVIEW, not for a listing, and make a clear policy of rejecting spam without a refund. You'll find the quantity of garbage submitted drops dramatically. In the long run your own accept/reject ratio will become evident, but there isnt much use for that number once you know it anyway. You're still going to accept sites based on their merit vs your criteria, and you'll have individual days that are spammier than others, so the average number means little in the course of daily editing.
