what should be the length of RSS feed? (how many items?)

How far should RSS feed go back in the history (how many items)?

I found that IE won't display more than 1000 items when reading RSS, and google feedburner requires feed size <512K. Are there any stricter limmitations on the rss length from other clients/websites?

Are there any drawbacks of using much shorter feed say last (newest) 10 items?

What if I added 200 new posts this week, and somebody access my feed weekly to republish it on their website, so having only 10 last items in my feed - would not it mean getting only 5% of the posts available for referring?

Hi, there is no drawback that I can think of in using shorter size feeds. You should probably limit it to something reasonable like 10-20. Cheers.

Just keep the feed items current. Keep in mind the more items the slower your feed will be to load.

It is best to give just a small amount in the RSS feed, people won't read the whole feed anyway when you put 1000 items in them.
Try to attract traffic with some of your newest items.
