What should be my CPM bids?

    Hi,

As part of our Adwords campaign, we are going to use the sites advertising feature of Adwords (to raise awareness of our services, we're running a ppc campaign in parallel).

I have compiled a list of sites I want to advertise on. Now I have to decide what my CPM bids are going to be. Although the system is supposed to adjust my bids automatically if they're too high, I don't want to set them all to 100$ and let the system do adjust it (and my client wants to get a cost estimate).

I know many factors come in play, but in what range would you suggest I bid / how much would you charge for CPM advertising on sites that offers the following number of impressions per day (according to adwords):

    -10k impressions/day
    10-100k impressions/day
    100k-500k impressions/day
    500k+ impressions/day

How much should my CPM bids be to appear on Youtube, Monster.com, photobucket?

    Any help is appreciated,

    Thanks

Just curious...why wouldn't you use the cpc option instead of the cpm?

You get the same exposure, it's just that only pay for clicks vs paying for every impression.

I was going to set up a cpm campaign today. I realized it is not cheap. I was expecting to pay something like £5 per 1000 impressions but i was thought wrong.

I've found the cpc for site targeting is usually about the same cost as the per impression version.

Really, that's interesting? For me cpc has always been a fraction of the cost. I've had dismal CTR on some cpc campaigns and received millions and millions of impressions. I pay pennies for those impressions (because I'm only paying for clicks) and had they been cpm based I would have spent thousands of dollars.

We'll do both. It's a pilot project. Is the number of impressions with CPC similar to what I would get with CPM?

    Thanks

It has been for me (assuming equal distribution settings).
