Every thread has the potential to be informative. If you ask the right questions, you'll get the right answers.

I agree with you partly. What you are explaining is again a very generalistic opinion and not legal in its perspective. If what you are referring about "news" is correct as per the US law then I am afraid every second local sub-urban and rural newspaper and magazines is completely illegal in what they are publishing.Do you think such a big illegal activity can survive so open in US? Please reconsider your interpretation.

I'm not sure what you're not understanding ashvaj. You'll have to be clearer. I already gave examples of what would and wouldn't be violations regarding news coverage, and things that can and cannot be protected by copyright. I'm not sure how I could make it any clearer. And as per what I mentioned, no, most newspapers and magazines aren't "illegal." I've already explained why what they do is legal - they either write it from a press release, or they offer their own commentary and interpretations in reporting the news, or they're simply publishing facts (which aren't protected) versus actual "content." They don't take an article from another newspaper, magazine, etc. and simply "rewrite" it (putting it into different words).

Just visit the Copyright Office's site, and you can find all of the information you could possibly want - www.copyright.gov

    Thanks a trillion Jenn.
I will certainly study this bare text. Writers must read it thoroughly. It will save them from infringements.I will also try to formulate an easy guide for the writers community if time permitts me.Thanks you Jenn for once again.

I recommend that you shop around for a competent writer who writes what you like. Most of us have samples or snippets that you can review just to check out our style. It is unfortunate that you must go through trial and error to find a good one, but that is the nature of the Internet. As you probably know from reading other posts on this board it can sometimes be difficult to find good writers who are dependable and honest. Keep in mind that most good writers are seeking these same qualities in the people that they write for. They want to be paid fairly, just as the client wants quality for a fair price.
