Heya every1, i'm wondering what are the most important factors clients look at when choosing a webhost. Share your selection tactics and experiences here.
1) Choose a reputed hosting company 2) Don't go behind cheap offers 3) Read some reviews before you choose the hosting company I wont suggest these 2 hosting companies, because of my hard experience with them. They are offering cheap price. But never won't get any support from them. 1) webhostingpad 2) justhost
Attractive hosting package ,good server uptime and fast customer support are the requirements that I'm looking for when buying a web hosting. - Dynashox -
In order of importance: 1. Customer Support 2. Uptime 3. Price 4. Ease of Use 5. Large support of CMS 6. Unlimited everything
Important parts of a hosting plan: 1) disk space 2) bandwidth - very important if you have a high traffic site, or are serving large files 3) database support 4) scripting support 5) uptime guaruntee 6) A reasonable price
The most important is the server uptime. This is important if you are running a sales through your site and it needs to be available everytime. The second one is the support as they will help you if you have any problems with your sites.
price uptime support I also like to see fantastico or simplescripts or some cpanel support to install popular scripts with the click of a button.
In addition I usually try and find a web hosting company that is based in the country where I'm trying to rank. USA - McKremie.com - Good support and Service UK - velnetweb.co.uk - Good prices
Customer support is very important. But as for features, it really does depend on who you are marketing too. If the customer will be the average person wanting to get a blog, then you don't need many features. But if you will be selling to big companies, then you will need a lot more (and could charge more too)
I know everyone says that it is good to go with a big host but I personally have had a lot of luck with the smaller ones. I use the host in my signature and have been very impressed with their timely responses and their willingness to help me with anything even if its not related to their service. Also, they offer a better price than most companies. I would definitely check them out. If that's not the route you are looking for then I would recommend packaging your domain purchasing with your hosting from a company like godaddy or namecheap. You will save money and they are very reputable.
I use Kwel Hosting kwelhosting.com for some time now, and have been more then satisfied with the performances. With low and reasonable prices and 99.99% of server uptime I managed to solve everlasting quest for good hosting provider. Also, they have one of the cheapest domain name prices on the web, together with many more interesting features. I suggest you all to try it guys!
I agree that the most important thing to a successful website is the ease of navigation along with uptime. Web hosting is extremely important because you want to be sure that your pages load quickly and stay correctly formatted. Once you decide on the type of website you want, and have some idea on how you would like to display your pages (graphics, images, etc.) then you need to discuss your goals with your hosting company to be sure that they are capable of handling all of your needs. Speaking directly to them will give you some insight into their customer services, support, knowledge, and return time, which is very important, especially in the early stages of building your site. Although it can be time consuming, comparing companies, prices and services are well worth their time, as it can save you a lot of headaches later on that could have been avoided. It is better to get all the kinks worked out in the early stages, when there is not yet much to loose, rather than later on when what you do have to loose are the customers and traffic you worked so hard to build.
Here is my own way 1. Straight forward in terms and condition. 2. Fair Price - Not cheap based / Reasonable plan 3. Compatibility with my own script in some specific website. 4. Fast support, 24x7 Email and Live Chat are preferrable. Phone support is unnecessary 5. Frequent Backup - This is an important. Do not forget to ask them how frequently they do backup for customers. More than one week per cycle - Not good. 6. Uptime - This is the most important factor. Too bad - some hosting company is not honest and not tell you their truly uptime. You may consider to test for a month period before go with yearly contract.
