    Hi,

I run a forum hoster. On the side of that i do paid webhosting to generate some extra cash which i now have. How shall i spend this?

I have $40. Shall i buy directory submissons or a new template? (www.easyforumz.com( yuk)). Or something diffrent.

    Thanks. Will rep.

If you want to grow your uniques faster I would pay for the directory submissions. If you want to take a gamble and increase organic hits I would spend the cash on a new template design, although the one you have right now isn't terrible. Neither decision is the wrong one to make.

Buy adverts. Your design is fine.

Also get some awards for your site (PayPal verified, BBB.org, etc) so people trust your site more.

think u need to ask yourself what exactly are your immediate objectives as well as your long term objectives

if you want to grow traffic, there are alot of things u can do besides submitting to directories, which actually don't create alot of traffic if you ask me. You cld arrange for adverts to be placed on high traffic blogs or even arrange for an adwords campaign, but u'll need more than $40 for that. Then u can also pay for forum posters, or conduct a competition. The choices are endless with pros & cons for each and it all depends on what exactly you hope to achieve :)

Buy links from high PR sites. Then you get higher rankings, then you can redesign your site for more traffic.

    Ok.

    So i have two options:

Get high PR Links, or just get a 500 directory submissons. Which is best?

While checking your site I realised that you need a new look desperaitly. Considering that you will go for a new look then you should see a increase in signups and thus an increase in profits. My guess would say you earn the small investment back in a period of about 1-2 months. Then your revenue flow will stay higher then before.

I would go for a new look !!
    Hope this helped you ;)

traffic flow coming from my directories cannot usually be compared to those of popular blogs, and sites. Directories help ALOT for PR, but think secondary in traffic

If you want traffic, go for blogs, social networks and popular sites...

But u shld also not neglect building your PR as it will raise your SERPs

I would recommand you the following:

You need better content on your index page. It is not seo friendly, where are your metas?
You need a good description on what your site is about. Write 250-300 words on what the site is about that's essential to get better SE results.

I think you should promote your service as a free service and at the bottom of the page mention that your costumers cpuld remove the ads for a small fee. You should know, that you have much competition in this niche.

One of my clients is offering complete free hosting for websites and no ads on the clients websites! You see the competition is high.

I recommanded him some days ago to invest his 70 $ of revenue to start an adwords campaign and it is working well for him.

his stats before adwords: 1621 members, 4 signups per day
with adwords: 1669 members, 17 signups per day! (campaign cost per day =7$) I think that's a good increase and every new member costed him about 40 cents. Try This method.

    That also depends greatly.

If the directory submissions are on topic with your forum and are of decent PR (higher than pr0-1) then I would go with that. However if they are not, I would go and get some targeted high-pr websites.

Then maybe you could spend that $40 to improve things on ur site. Like its design.. :)

Design is not everything, but sometimes we need to make an impressions for our site visitors to stay longer or to visit our sites again .. and .. again.
