Hello everyone, hope you're all good within the mess the world is witnessing! First and foremost, I'm Ayoub I'm a writer with over than 5 years of experience, I write almost everything from articles, Top-Tens, How-Tos, general niches, product descriptions, to SEO, and short stories. I even worked as a forum-poster! So, I'm passionate about my job, recently (well a years or so) novels and short stories attracted me in a great deal, not only I have good researching skills that made me a good writer, but also I have a vast imagination that I want to invest in, I already have 3 titles, ideas to write about, I'm determined to publish my first short story (around 80-100 pages) by the beginning of the year 2021. Sorry if I made it long lol I'm gonna get to my questions, I want to start a blog in which I will publish short storiesــ maybe around 1000 words is adquateــ but I don't know much about "Runing a blog site," What skills do I need? I already have my writing and designing skills (I'm actually a designer too who'd have thought), do I need coding skills? How to create a blogging site? where can I get my domain? What setbacks that I should anticipate? Thank you for giving your precious time to read my request, I'm looking forwards to your answers and thoughts, also If missed something that I need to know about blogging, do let me know, please. Kind regards,
Do I need coding skills? You do not! It is a nice to have but you definitely don't have to have coding skills. How to create a blogging site? You can go to somewhere like WordPress.com and create a blog with their premade themes! where can I get my domain? Namecheap.com, Godaddy.com, Name.com What setbacks that I should anticipate? Don't expect for traffic to come to your blog automatically, it will take time and patience!
If you plan on running a blog site you need to get into the habit of spell checking and to focus on grammar and punctuation. (capital letters etc.) You especially need to do this as English is not your first language. I also am not a native speaker of English, but became so fanatical about proof reading that in time I was able pass for a native speaker. Good luck to you with all.
Ops, small mistakes like this may occur from time to time, I was in a hurry while writing this post I didn't have time to check the spelling, thank you for your insight!
You see it also happened to me, but I came back and fixed it. Proof reading can be done anytime after the content has been written.
If we are going to go down the purely technical road (off topic) it is actually supposed to be written this way:proof.reading.(some bring the . higher up) In a couple of English speaking countries it can be written as proof'reading but it is never supposed to be written as one word. BTW J'ai etudie l'Anglais a La Sorbonne a Paris.
Well, in our "Modern-English" it is written in one word, I already have an English diploma and I'm studying English at university, preparing master's degree, it's always nice to learn new things from other people( I didn't know that you can write it like this: proof'reading) so thanks for that, language is akin to an ocean, vast until you cannot see the shores beyond the horizon. Beaucoup de respect pour toi.
If you want to practice blogging than you can start with free platforms such as Wix, or Weebly. After you are confident in your blogging skills, you can buy a domain name, and set up hosting. Then you can use your practice sites to drive traffic to your main website. I enjoy writing flash fiction too. I look forward to reading yours.
There are such points you need to remember before writing a blog. 1. Before you start, ask yourself why you want to start a blog. If your only aim is to make money through it just drop this idea. 2. Most important Identify your niche as there are a lot of bloggers already and they own their particular blog. So don't go with the flow. 3. Choose a topic you are passionate about. 4. Don't forget your content is everything, you need quality with quantity. It should give value to your readers. 5. And last get as social as you can.
If you planning to run a blog or web first you need to research on latest trends topics. Spell checking and to focus on grammar and punctuation. etc
Hi! My only recommendation would be for you to use credible and reliable data and sources when you write about something. Personally, I've seen so many websites writing about topics without properly crediting the original authors. There is so much misinformation going around and I just believe that your website will have higher organic traffic when your content is high quality.
To make sure your articles flow, spelling and grammatical mistakes are taken out before you hit the 'post' button I would suggest Grammarly. It's a great little tool, put your content in and it will decipher every little thing you ask it to. A must for any blogger.
