What Server Is Recommended?

    Hello,

I was just wondering, right now I have a blog on blogger with about 20K visitors a day...

I was wondering what kind of server would I need if I move to another host?

    Shared Hosting? VPS? Dedicate?

It's just a simple blog with images hosted on another server with a download... so I wouldn't even need 1 GB space... just bandwith and CPU?

So my real question is, how much ram of server would I really need?

    128 MB ram? 192MB? 256MB? XD

    Thanks

20k unique visitors? or 20k pageviews?

Either way you could have too much for regular shared hosting so I can recommend a VPS package.

If it's 20k unique visitors then I'd recommend at least 512mb RAM, otherwise 256mb would be fine. As for space, you'd want to get a few gigs because the OS on a VPS takes up quite a bit of space. Along with a control panel if you need one.

I don't think you need a dedicated server yet, either a very high end shared hosting account or a small-medium VPS but you'd have to clarify on your visits first.

Yeah, 20K unique visitors is correct, and about 100K pageviews per day

then a VPS would probably do. Do you know how many consecutive connections you get?

Sometimes a high end shared hosting account is better than a budget VPS and has none of the management headaches. When you shop honestly tell the prospective company your stats.

You surely don't want an overselling shared account selling for less than $10 per month.

With such a good site, you don't want things to go wrong so I highly recommend going with clustered hosting or grid hosting where you have many servers powering your site. One good host is mediatemple.net

First of all you need to tell us what was your previous web hosting solution. However if that is time to upgrade I think that VPS should be one of the best option here.
But if you are planning to use Cpanel be informed that can eat up to 100 MB of your RAM.
