    i used Askjeeves when i started using the internet. Google came later when i realized that the searches were much better.

    Altavista
    Yahoo
    Webcrawler
    Metacrawler

    today, although I dislike monopols, I use mainly Google (95%) Exalead (2,5%) and Yahoo (2,5%)

    I dislike monopols, but I must admit I cannot find something better than google in terms of quality of results and pertinence.

    I used altavista grudgingly. Mostly I relied on link-lists found through there. Search was very cumbersome when I started. When I discovered google it was such a relief: finally a search engine with at least 90% relevant results...

    I used dogpile at the time. Then my friend paul told me to check out this cool new site called "google" and i started using it.. Now google imo is pretty much crap. But its become a habit to use it.

    I used Yahoo, like many others. As soon as Google hit the scene, I switched over and haven't looked back. These days the few times I do hit Yahoo's site, it seems overwhelmingly cluttered compared to Google.
