west, there are a LOT of biz directory mod ideas and forums out there. I would suggest google and then do a search. You will find a tonne of info..
Hello, I am also using biz directory script at www.alldotnet.com and have heavily customized it. There would be template files that you can edit for changing the look and feel and placing the ads and other links. However, I would reccomend to give a look at following script: http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/ It seems to have some good features, like image verification, URL Rewrite, Show Link and Category Counts, Show PageRank of links in the directory and many other goodies for free
can you pls tell me how did you customize www.alldotnet.com i have created a sample dir here www.cash-for-surveys.com/dir
you have to edit following files: template_index.php template_add_url.php template_search.php Spend some time to study these files and understand the script.
is it easy to handle? if we copmare it with "PHP Directory Script" do you know any site who has used phplinkdirectory
Modifiy the templates and either ad includes or add the code directly to the pages. I think you are looking for "include_ppc.php"
Do you use include_ppc.php for ads, that is interesting. I have simply added them directly in the page.
I see a few people were asking about PHP Link Directory. I wanted mention a couple more things. 1) We are constantly listening to our users:Support Forums 2) We are using a CVS system, and you can always access the latest version of the script (before official releases) This week we are working on adding a system where you can add sponsored listings and accept paypal.
i wanna convert my pages from php to .html...i think you should also make free script for that and when are you going to release new version. what is CVS system
how do you add them directly...and i also wanna convert .php to .html pages can anyone provide me the code or script for it. What should i do regarding conversion. I don understand .php, i would appreciate if someone tells me in details.
i saw your site and frequent visitor of it. I liked "recently added" feature. how can i add that feature in my directory. How did you convert your .php pages to .html. can you provide me the code for it,i will be greatful to you. what about coop code, you have added in your site, pls tell me about that also.
Can you tell me more about your desire to create htnl pages? Is it because you want to export the pages to a site that does not have PHP installed on the server? Or is it because you just don't want to have the PHP extension? If the second, that is already solved with mod_rewrite. If the first, the ability to import and export as xml will go along way. We are releasing the next version today or tomorrow, though you can always access the latest development version as well. CVS is a form of version control that keeps track of changes, and helps developers work together better, so that it is easier to trace bugs.
Actually I have modified the script quite a bit such that there are outside includes called to the include page if that makes sense. We have modified things to allow easy customization and the addition of custom "pay" ads for those that wish to advertise site wide. I also added image verification to the submit pages to keep from being bombarded by directory addition scripts, though for a small fee we do have a page that automated script adders can use to submit bulk submissions. I've listed a number of the mods in other threads in the "Directories" area of the DP forums, so feel free to search for those. In the mean time the customization we have done has gotten to the point that it would take too much time to list everything we have done or how we have done it. My suggestion is find someone that knows PHP really well and you will be set.
hi see this url http://www.cash-for-surveys.com/dir/index.php?c=159 here "?" is mentioned which i don want to use and search engine never likes it. so i want to convert my .php pages to .html to make it seo friendly. do you have mod_rewrite for converting .php to .html
Okay, that is what I thought. In the case above, using the built in mod rewrite with my forum software, you url would look like this: cash-for-surveys.com/dir/recreation/ You can look at the categories I have here too for another example: http://www.dance-forums.com/directory/ And I'll be happy to help you import your database, eliminating hours of retyping links...just pop in to the support forum, and we'll give you a helping hand.
i can't see any readme file for phplinkdirectory. what steps should take for creating database connectivity and all.
