You are right, I should have asked the question that way.

Call me crazy, but I don't believe people are inherently evil, but somehow there has been a lot of killing in the name of god.

first we need to find how many religions are and were been in the world, and we will fall in a problem, because some religions started before other religions, so to be fair we need an equal period for all, and if we had an equal period in time lets say 100 years, and also equal in events, like, the first 100 years of each religion, will we have accurate data?

even if we took recent period, like from 1908-2008 we will not have accurate data, take Iraq for example, some say 150,000 Iraqi been dead, some others say 1,000,000+

then, how do we know if those who been killed were killed in the name of the religion, or if the religion was used to justify some criminal acts, like for example Iraq war, and 9/11, Bush said God told him to go to war, and OBL says something similar. in other words, we will have people arguing if it was over religion or if they were using religion to gain power.

I think, and I might be wrong, you are trying to say that religions cause wars and killing, so, lets try to ignore religions for a moment, what will we see? Stalin, who killed millions, Hitler, who killed millions, Mao, Musollini ...etc they did not believe in any religion yet they caused killing in millions, in the name of race maybe, or in the name of the nation..

so we need to count those who been killed because there was no religion, or belief to tell their killers: killing is wrong, at the same time, we need to count those who been not killed (saved) because there is religion that stopped their potential killers before they kill by telling them killing is wrong, which is impossible to know,

and lets continue to assume there is no religion, do you think people won't kill in the name of race for example? color? nationality?

 

Now I realize that. I'm just tired of the one religion bashing another religion threads. I thought this thread might illustrate the need for tolerance by highlighting the opposite. Oh well

 

You can not blame a single religion, terrorist are there in all religions.

I do agree with one point that there are religions who teaches to kill other ( but with only ethical and valid point ).
Like religion allows you to Kill your opponent in situations like self-defence etc and even for the cause of doing any harmful thing against religion.

I'm a Muslim and our religion does not permit anyone to kill in the name of God for any ethical reason.
God tells us that If they want to fight, fight in the way of God, but if they stop, let there be no more war.

And if they want peace, drive them to the safest side.

No religion will ever teach anyone to kill each other or to spread terrorism, If only people could think very logically, there won't be any misconceptions and killings.

First of all, we all have to agree on the points, which are common in all of our religion, respect each other's religion.
Don't judge any religion by it's members, Judge it by the Holy scriptures and it's real & true follower(s) whom God appointed himself.

a major teaching in Christianity, which you claim you are one of its followers, is, don't lie, this is also a major teaching in Islam, in addition Islam teaches us to check before we make conclusions and act, which is very clear in verse 49:6 which says:

"O ye who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done."

I find it really strange when in the name of your religion you cry for the victims in Sudan, and ignore the millions who been killed and raped in Rwanda, and other parts of Africa which are not controlled by Muslims, Darfur crises, must be stopped and all parties should live in peace there, but I really do not take one side story about it, specially when from experience, this side have a big problem with their honesty.
