More like 65 million. The dinosaurs were killed (and 80%) of all species died from a meteor 65 million years ago. So the suggestion is we evolved from mammals that hid underground (as that's the only plausible method of survival)....and changed from a lemur-like animal to a homosapien within that time frame. I'm not arguing against evolution. I actually don't doubt it...it's just hard to comprehend those changes in 65 million years. If such an occurence could happen on Earth, then there must be millions of planets with creature almost like us. It just seems that simple...but I suppose it isn't.
of course evolution is scientific fact, but it is abot 800 million years of evolution. the animals that survived the destruction of the dinorsaurs were yes our ancestors, but they themselves evolved from other createures, all stemming from the first life about 800 million years ago. Everything is all connected from the beginning. the fact that we are a water based planet and water based life emerged is the reason for so many varieties of life. Water takes any shape of the container it is in, which is why it is perfect for life. Always being able to adapt and change its form and shape to compete with its surroundings. Its amazing its come as far as highly intelligent life such as ourselves, the fact that is has remained stable enough for so long to allow life to develop in so many varities is remarkable.
Actually evolution confirms the existence of god. People the book of genisis and revelations werent meant to be interpreted literally , they were written more in a conceptional way. there has been not one christian (that reads these 2 parts of the bible literally) that has been able to disprove carbon dating as being innacurate. Science doesnt disprove the existence of god, on the contrary it validates it. There were 3 atheists(forgot the studies name) that did a study of what kind of formula it would take to create a galaxy. They all came to an agreement that it would take an exact formula to create it, and that one slight deviaition would insure that the galaxy would have never been created otherwise. They also came to a conclusion that a galaxy could not be created by chance, they maybe some superbeing dabbling in chemistry decided to create it. I wish i remembered this study, it was from my bible study class
Born and raised Luthern/Born again. (went back and forth, depending on my Dad's religious mood atm). But I am LDS(most commonly referred to as Mormon by those who don't know the name)
While science doesn't disprove the existence of a deistic god, it certainly doesn't validates it. Belief in god by leading American scientists is only 7%, quite less than the American population in general. Now you may say that Scientists ain't people we can trust, but here you stated that science validates the existence of a god. However, science have explained how faith is wired into our genes. This have helped humans to build harmonic societies in ancient times.
Mmmmm no. Evolution is certainly compatible with the existence of God, but it doesn't prove it. I think you are talking about the anthropic principle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropic_principle A little question for you. If a galaxy cannot be created by chance, and a superbeing created it - who created the superbeing?
That superbeing being God being created is a question raised by many. According to the Bible God has always been and will always be. It's probably the hardest thing most people can get their head around. However, I am not one that disbelieves this from my study and analysis. Col
If this is the case, then why can't the Universe have always been and will always be? Why does it need a Creator?
Imagine this a question was asked on what your religion was. And it boils down to a discussion what came first the chicken or the egg. Or in this case, God or Evolution. lmao Since the discussion digressed from the original thread post. Did I mention I liked the song, Losing My Religion by R.E.M
Christian means you believe in Christ...for some of our smarter posters. Are you Roman Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Greek Orthodox etc. complex idea. I'd rather choke than be associated w. quite a few of the above named groups...from a "Christian" '
Born again Christian - I guess if you had to put it in a category, it'd be evangelical/charismatic. Definitely not religious though.
