Sorry the title sounds a bit like one of those stupid "who is the best blah blah" threads but I couldnt really think of any other way to put it. I run a large forum and have for 15 years and I have decided I am going to step it up a bit by purchasing a portfolio of websites, initially probably up to say 50. I know there are no doubt a lot of members on this site who do this either as a full or part time income and I was wondering who they use for domain register/renewal ? I was also wondering where they host all their sites but I am not sure if that is a question that I should ask in this particular forum ?
I'd have to say the most popular would be GoDaddy. Behind them you probably have a pretty big mixture of companies like Name.com, Enom, DynaDot..etc
Simple Advise If you're going to manage a portfolio of websites, with the intention of possibly selling them at a later stage, then do yourself a favor and make sure you register the domains with a registrar that supports pushing of domains from one user to another. I cannot stress how helpful the above functionality is. Some/many registrars will say that they can transfer the domain between users but they hide the fact that they'll require support tickets etc. GoDaddy and Namecheap both support this however, I really dislike GoDaddy, so I'd recommend you go with NameCheap. As for other registrars that support domain pushing, I'll leave the googling up to you
It confirms what I thought but as always, its wise to check with people that know more Thanks for the replies
65% domains are registered with Godaddy. But Lots of Domainers for Bulk domains Use NetEarthOne, InternetBS,resell.biz etc website for better renewal Prices.
I'll put in a vote for Namecheap. They've been an absolutely stellar registrar for me. As for hosting, I like and use HostGator for niche websites (which sounds like what you are buying), but it would probably be wise to split 50 websites up among different hosting providers/accounts. You know... the whole "all eggs in one basket" thing.
I try to stay away from GoDaddy... their interface is horrible and slow to navigate and modify things. Use internetbs.net or namesilo ... cheap prices, easy to use (good API), good support and FREE whois protection!
According to my research Eurodns.com is really great company. I love their attractive offers, nice features and fast replies of support team.
Yes, godaddy is the elephant in the domain registrar business but many other do a great job, enom being one of them.
dynadot simply because you can purchase domain name privacy with your domain name for a year or more instead of a month ive been using them for almost six months and there great
Hello Kamijou, I notice that you are promoting DY in 2 threads, it's good. But, don't you think "Lifetime FREE whois privacy" will be better than 1 year's?
I use Namecheap, But I have been eyeballing NameSilo for awhile. Currently have ~36 domains hosted on namecheap.
I tried out all the Registrars and finally reached to this conclusion that ResellerClub is the best, safe and convient Registrar though they sell only through their resellers. In fact, we become their master reseller without any deposits or any such sort of things. Regards.
Most of the webmasters like to register domain name with Godaddy as it is very secure, active, it has great features, it has market place where you can sell your domain in auction and in other ways.. name server update doesn't take time, it gets functioning immediately.
