Hey, Ive read alot of things about what Google likes and dislikes and tried a couple of things and just found myself stuck between page 5-7 of any keyword I go for (compatative or not). What I really want to know is is building backlinks from high PR pages (dofollow) enough to get you to the top of google? Or does this have to be combine with other things? Thanks
Breaks down to onpage and offpage optimization Backlinks are offpage and make up the bulk of your job... it depends how competitive your keywords are, and what kinda competition your up against. you certainly won't get anywhere without the backlinks though..they are key.
remember google is based ENTIRELY on providing the most relevant possible website. Therefore you need to prove to google how relevant your site is... with your backlinks the ANCHOR TEXT is a major factor of relevancy, but don't go 100% one word all the time. As for on your page, use your targeted keyword in your title, sprinkled lightly throughout your page, and maybe avoid having affiliate links right on your main index page... so it doesn't look like your just a sales page (to the bot)
It really help if your anchor text is realted to the content on the website. Not just the PR. Say you are promoting your web hosting website. If your backlink is on a page with an article relating to webhosting it would help more than having your backlink on a website relating to search engines.
Nowadays google is also giving some importance to Brand. Many factors contribute to a page's rank on-page SEO, anchored backlinks from relevant dofollow pages would definitely give boost to a page's SERPs.
O my God! This is a tough question to answer in this small space. However, you will find that Google is ever changing. Just make good content and keep visiting this site. There are plenty of smart SEO experts here that can help you.
The ranking is also determine by how many times the keyword appears in your content, the arrangements and also content relevancy. All these come into play.
content and length of time the site has been around are at least as important I have a site with no links no seo but it comes up No1 for the main keywords because its been around a long time and has good content
Backlinks is what you really need in order to up your ranking on google. So, try to post in forums, directories, etc. and have your signature on the bottom of posts with your link. That will give you tons of backlinks
This didnt really answer many questions... Well do answer some of the statements put forward, my site is 1.5 years old and ive been actually working with it for about 2 months now...so not long. I hear what everyone is saying about building backlinks, but is there any evidence etc that could imply higher PR pages will increase SERPs more than lower PR pages? Also would you use nofollow sites as a backlinking method? Or is that more for traffic generation? Thanks thus far
also don't forget to update your site every day and update your sitemap everyday. G loves Fresh content and that will give you a nice boost
Good amount of backlinks to your site is the good way to take you up google ranking - use a well and unique content to your site.
When it comes to back links, Google bots want to see that links to your page(s) are from high PR sites which are relevant to your content. If your links come from lots of high-value sites in your niche, your page will move up in the search page. Of course, your keyword density needs to be at least 6%, I would say. You can't just write your keyword twice in an article. You've gotta show keyword authority in that article.
yeah, its not just about the backlinks. get your onsite seo perfected then work on getting links and continue to add relevant content
Good Contents. Even better related backlinks... and being natural and trying to make the site as real as possible than making it for the search engines
Do remember one thing, Never do link building for just one keyword. Do it for few of them. If you do it for just one keyword, google might penalize it
