I think because Nintendo said something about him being Osamas son and a bunch of other stuff.

It wasn't the picture itself as much as the meaning he puts to the picture.

Hopefully Minstrel will explain it better (or correct me)

That's pretty much it. It seems designed to look as much like a terrorist as possible and thus gives the impression of glorifying terrorists -- it's insensitive because a great many people have suffered at the hands of these soulless killers.

To put it in context, imagine a Hitler lookalike in its place and ask yourself whether people might not find that insensitive and obnoxious.

    Good one, Hodged! :p

He has a beard and is wearing a winter jacket w/ a hood. Did he say he wanted to look like a terrorist or something?

    Nintendo, please clear this up!

Nintendo did what he does best..Put his foot in his mouth. He did make some insensitive remarks and alluding to his avatar as proof he was a terrorist etc.

It was Nintendo being Nintendo. I have no idea if that was his initial intention as that guy I don't think has ever actually been serious.

It was stupid on his part. I see Minstrels point though now that Nintendo made the big deal about it. I always though his Avatar was him sitting on one of those massage tables which is even MORE offensive (that means someone would be touching his bare back)

I think he actually alluded to being a certain person's son. Whether this makes him a terrorist or not I don't know
I think Nin was trying to be funny. At the moment, every one is taking terrorism far too seriously. After all, it's not as if it's anything new.
What would happen if everyone just ignored the terrorists ? - I know it would never happen, but what would the terrorists do if all the media started reporting the nicer things that happen rather than all the killing that goes on in the world ?

Tell that to those who have lost friends and family members in New York, London, Spain, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc., etc., etc.

A lot more people would die...

So all the people who have lost relatives and friends like all the attention being given to the terrorists do they ?
I'm not saying ignore the victims of terrorist attacks, but I'd be interested to see anything that shows how the media attention given to the attacks aids anyone other than the terrorists.

? how do you work that one out then ?
I don't see any proof that all the media attention that's been given to the terrorist's has managed to reduce the attacks in any way shape or form. Far from it, many of the attacks are perpetrated purely for the media attention that it generates.

If you think that newspapers and television are going to stop reporting terrorist activities, you are mistaken. If you think that even if this did somehow occur it would make any difference to what the terrorists do, you are seriously mistaken -- have you not noticed that they have their oen publicity campaigns now, including or especially the use of the internet, which is rapidly becoming the primary source of news especially for the under-30s?

Make no mistake about this: There is only one thing that is going to stop the terrorists and that is their demise. They have no interest in negotiation or compromise or even principle -- their only interest is in murder -- because they enjoy it, in the same way a serial killer enjoys it.

You may be correct Minstrel, but I've seen no evidence that we've manage to stop any terrorism ever. So what you're saying is that there is infact no way to stop the terrorists - I'd like to be able to disagree with you but I can't see an arguement against that.
BTW, when I said that 'I know it would never happen ' I was referring to the media stopping reporting on the terrorist attrocities around the world.

I have no answers, and it'll take a lot of convincing me that there actually are any, on how to stop terrorists. Recent events have only reinforced that either the intelligence isn't good enough, the political will isn't there, or both, to wipe out the terrorists.

Indeed, because culture and national boundaries come into it.

Anyone for a 419 scam? We all know which country used to dominate that "industry". Does being wary of doing business with individuals from that country make me racist?

It's strange really, I hear that it was supposed to be Nigerians but was it really ??
Many of the arrests that I've read about have been in mainland Europe though.

e10: I still think it really would take a special kind of MUG to take an email seriously (from someone you've never met) which says I've got $40Million in a bank account do you want some of it.

The only thing different between the two images is that one has a beard, and I'm under a blanket. I've had the grin for over 10 years. Way before 9/11 occured. The beard makes me look like a terrorist (Bigger image.) Then the blanked is where the hidding in the cave, the $20,000,000 reward, and being related to Osoma Bin Laden came from. If a blanket makes some one a terrorist, then we got a few billion terrorist living on this planet.
