my pc is only turned off when windows does an update and reboots. i have never turned my pc off unless i am going away for more than an overnight stay in 6 years, 2 boxes in 7 years and the same 19 inch screen, so no it dont do any harm in my view. oh the PSU needed to be changed within a year on the 1st pc. but that was because it was under power for the box.

Seeming as this is a thread for the hardcore bandwidth users (Isay this because most of the programs people have running 24/7 are downloading something!!) I thought i would share something with you. I just took on a contract (I will not go into detail), however it required me to run a server in my office with a third party application 24/7. This server controlled a network of computers. However i keep coming up with the wonderful Microsoft message 'Windows is low on virtual memory, sort it out or I will crash!!!!' you know the one! Well the knock on effect was that it would case windows to shut down applications! Now why is this relevant! I know there is nothing worse that checking your computer just before your head hits that sack and seeing all is fine and you are getting a great DL speed on that movie that you have been waiting for for ages! Then you wake up the next morning and find that over night your system died and the application shut down. So I got someone to create a little application for me and this is what I would like to share with you. It monitors set applications that are running, and if it finds that a preset application is not present, it will check it again within 30 seconds, if it still cannot find the application it then attempts to restart it. If atfer a further 30 seconds it still cannot find it, it then reboots your system (make ysure the app is in the start up). Awsome.... your downloading can continue! If anyone wants a copy of this app then just PM me and I will throw one to you
