or what do i need to know to make a site? I have been studying Dreamweaver for the past couple of weeks... i know theres tons of other things i need to know other then dreamweaver but i dont know where to start. I would like to teach myself and dont want to waste my time studying something that isnt relevant. Once im done with my dreamweaver textbook i plan on using the W3schools website to teach myself css and xhtml. Does anybody have any suggestions, as far as books that i can use to study, programs that i need to know how to use, languages? Any would greatly be appreciated, Thank you
Well- you should watch all of these videos: www.phpvideotutorials.com/free and follow along with video 1 new then video 1 old.. watch the old and new.. just to understand it better! You will know PHP if you stick to these lessons. however, you will always learn new functions with new PHP versions. good luck pal.
You do not need to know any programs. Alot of site builders are drag and drop. If you know how to upload a picture then you can make a website. My hosting site will even generate a basic page for you. It's very easy. Complex sites take a little more skill.
Well thats the thing, i want to be able to make quality sites, I would love to be able to create complex sites. Thats why i posted my question, If anybody knows what program languages i would need to know, What programs i need to know? And/or if someone would be able to tell me what books or sites helped them gain knowledge on said programs. I appreciate your suggestion, but i dont want to take the easy road... I want the complex road.
It depends on what kind of website you want to make. If you are looking for a static website then you need to learn photoshop and HTML/CSS using DW. If you want to make a dynamic website then you need to learn PHP OR ASP.Net Programming. Hope it helps...
No problem. You asked so I answered. There is also a 5 page website builder included for every domain. It uses website tonight. The more knowledgeable you are, the fancier you can get. I use both basic and complex. I really like the instant parked page for sale option. Handy to work with multiple domains. I also use Pl*sk site builder. Takes alot longer of course to build a quality site. Good luck with your ventures.
Ok, here's how I thought myself to build sites: Notepad Find a site you really like and then view the source code and copy/paste it into notepad. Look at the code and play around with it one little bit at a time. Don't change 2 or 3 things, change one thing and preview it in your browser...did it do what you thought it would do? Yes, that's the code you need to do that, you've learned one thing. Now do this again 8 million times until you learn how to do all the cool things you want to be able to do. Or, use WordPress or XSite Pro to do it for you and still have a social life, up to you really.
you have to learn html and give a try to adobe's coldfusion. it is tag based, approach is similar to html. you can start web programming in less than 1 month. however, you should realize that you need years to build up really professional programming skills, regardless of the web programming language you will go with.
If you are a starter just starting out I would suggest the WYSIWYG editor that you can purchase online. It is an amazing technology that allow you to simply drag and drop things onto a webpage and publish it online. I first started out with it and it gave me a way better understanding of the internet. I mostly use Dreamweaver now though
