    Hi All,

To those who are frequent buyers of websites, what type of programming design (or cms) do you prefer the site to be built on? I know there are many other factors to consider when buying a site, but what do you prefer: Wordpress, Joomla, just a html template? These would be new with no traffic.

    Thanks!

There are three camps of buyers.... those that believe they are know about programming and it simply a convenience to pay for a developer but know that PL + Progress is the only way to go for any site (eg)..... those that know they are business people and look to bring on aboard people with IT knowledge to compliment their own skills and have no preferences.... there are also those in the middle ground that know they are not IT people however are used to using DotNetNuke or Joomla and so whilst accepting it may not be the best it is what they want to save learning a new system.

Avoid number 1 like the plague... they will never be satisfied, number 2 is the ideal client as they are employing you for your knowledge not just your keying ability. 3 is a bit of a mix bag because whilst you can support their preferred application at some point there is a block where you and they have a difference of opinion and it is a lottery on if they become 1 or 2 above

I prefer PHP custom coded sites.

PHP because it can easily be ran on IIS (microsoft servers)

But on IIS it cannot use .htaccess for url rewriting where as if it is in .net or .asp you can do rewriting on IIS without needing to resort to ISAP which most shared servers dont offer
