    Hello!

I have my Dino-computer (Dino from "Dinosour") since 2002. My processor is a Pentium 4, 2.40 GHz. I need to buy a new Computer But i can only afford a couple of dollars.

I have been seing one computer very cheap (about US$550) with a processor "Dual Core E5200" and another with a processor "CORE 2 DUO E4500"

Are those processor better than my Penitum 4 2.4Ghz?

I only want to know about the processor as in DRAM I already know what I need.

    What do you recommend?

    thanks guys!

Yeah, the E5200 should be slightly better than the 4500.... but they are exponentially better than a P4 :D

Core 2 DUO has been very efficient, I have been using it quite a while for now without any issues

It depends on what type of applications you are going to use, if you are just gonna use MS. Office, a bit of net browsing etc. then dual core will be good enough and better value for money. however if you're into gaming and all, or use heavy applications a lot then core2duo is the way to go

I have been E4500 for the last 6 months... and it is excellent. Not to forget 2 GB RAM, and a decent graphics card.

    All the best... :)

A new Intel Dual Core/Core2Duo CPU will be much faster that your old P4.

I would say - choose the E5200. It has the newer 45nm core and it's 2.5Ghz. This specific model can also be overclocked very well and reach frequencies of 3,5Ghz and more.

The E4500 is from the older 65nm generation, 2.2Ghz.

Usually the difference between Dual Cores/Core2Duo's is the amount of L2 Cache they have, but in this case they both have 2MB cache, so I see no reason to choose the E4500.

Core 2 Duo is anytime better than Dual core.....I have seen a lot of difference between the two processors when it comes to running games and other software like Maya.....so decide...
