If you were creating a large directory, which software would you choose?

    We want the best.

If it is that good why sell it?

    -------------
Best advice is to first figure out what you want your site to be. Features etc.

Then when you have a clear idea for what you want in your site go and check the scripts available against what your expectations and needs are.

At that point your question will answer itself.

Without knowing exactly what you have in mind for your site there is no clear - nor accurate answer you will get here.

If that makes any sense at all.

Any of the paid versions of the available scripts will be fine. I've used phpld and been pleased with it.

Then you'll want to have it custom-coded for your precise requirements and to make it unique.

Best two directory softwares are PHPLD and eSyndicat softwares, which one to choose depends on which features you need.

Ofourse it represent my opinion, but my opinion is based on my experience with both directory softwares.

If you can find any directory software that provide what PHPLD and eSyndicat provide, then please share it with us as i am interested if there are directory softwares/scripts that can be in the same level as PHPLD & eSyndicat softwares.

Seriously?? I have looked at a lot of scripts and those may be popular - only because they offer free versions - but clearly they are not the best. That is of course only my humble opinion.

EDIT - But to satisfy your curiosity I will mention one of several I know of.... edirectory.

Ok, i see how professional this directory software or web site is.

Its so professional that the demo links:
    http://www.demodirectory.com/listing/
    http://www.demodirectory.com/members
    http://www.demodirectory.com/sitemgr

    Are broken links.

Since the demo is not working as a normal visitor or interested person i wont waste my time to check there software anymore even if it is for free, because they just have broken links.

Hi Tokipost. As some of the others have mentioned, it depends on what your needs are, and it does pay to look around. PHP and eSyndicat are definitely the most popular, but it doesn't mean they're the best.

Check out SBD Directory Software. There is a demo and list of features available on the website. The newest 4.0 version I've released has a huge focus on filtering spam and bad listings. As a directory owner you will find you will get a lot of both. Have a look if you're interested.
