    Hello Everybody,

Could you help with a question regarding Links?

    A site I've approached has a PR 5 (homepage)

Cool now I have a much needed link to a PR5 site or do I?

The "links page" where the link is has a PR 0

    What gives?

    Side Question:

On a given web site can each page have a different PR?

    Erik

Yes on a given website each has given PR

But it is better to have sitewide links than in link pages as some may trick you to buy a link in a PR0 inner page!

Check the website's inner pages PR via iwebtools visual pagerank!

Google has removed PR from pages it determines to be link farms - A true PR0 page will not pass any PR. If the page is new, it may not of had its PR updated.

Sitewide links are devalued by google - it is much better to have 10 PR4 links from different sites, on different IP's, than 100 PR4 links from the same site.

The number of links on the page linking to you also affects the PR that will pass. If there are a ton of links on the page, it will pass very little PR.

I disagree. Sitewide links are easily considered by Google and other Search Engines as "sold links".
IMO the better links are contextual links inside text with keywords as "anchor" from authority sites.
Unfortunately, that links are usually very difficult (or expensive) to get.

If the page where the link is on has 0 PR, you're getting 0 PR. Check on yahoo for links to the links page, and see if at least his site is linking to it. If it is, the links page should get some PR, but usually less than the homepage.

Hey shweta take care with your buying site wide links strategy... google may even penalize you. Buying site wide links is actually one of the tricks used by blackhaters to decrease your ranking in SERPS... I don't know much about the 'darker side' so that part of the info may not be accurate
