I hope this is in the right place - if not sorry! I was just wondering as to what % of visitors you get to your site come from search engines. I have a site that is currently getting around 11% of total visitors through search engine generated traffic. I know I can improve this with SEO techniques and have done so recently - however I was just wondering what the 'average' was - or atleast if we could get a DP average via this thread. Cheers Hopper
WOW - if I could get to 70% that would mean a significant increase in my visitor numbers. That's great guys, it gives me something to aim for. Cheers Hopper
Hopper, I think you can get your targeted traffic only through searchengines. They are the only source for getting new visitor, if your site ranks higher in search engine then you will see the exact effect of SE.
My traffic started increasing drastically lately because of Google. My site use to get about 30% of its traffic from Google but now that has jumped to 45%. Earnings have tripled and so have the number of visitors.
Hopper, looking across 20+ sites I'd guess the split is more like 60% search engines, 40% from other links.
Actually, the percentage depends on your ranking for your relevant keywords AND on the keywords themselves: if you have to share traffic with many other websites since your keyword is one that is very frequently used, your percentage must decrease, even with good ranking. So, it is not really useful to compare these percentages without knowing that they refer to the same keyword. Even the relatively low percentages given by some of the contributors to this thread may in fact indicate extremely well SEOed webpages, and the relatively high values (like mine) may point to rarely used keywords...
