Its an interesting point as many designers, like yourself I expect, want to design sites for 1024 x 768 as minimum, rather than 800 x 600.

Another interesting point is that FireFox, our favorite browser has just released version 3 in BETA. It looks nice and I have installed it although non of my add ons or themes are compatible.

Well I prefer liquid layouts, but my latest template has minimum width of 1024. With all mods and additional stuff people want there is no way to fit all in 800px width.

Can it work side by side with 2.0 version?

    For a entertainment blog:

    3.08%

    For a paid directory:

    9.84%

    For a free directory:

    21.55%

In India 800*600 is still used in more than 95% of the cyber cafes but majority of home users work with 1024*768

Yes it can Marko. I have them both installed. My sites look no different in FF 3 so I'm not sure if there are any rendering changes or CSS fixes.

800x600 is a thing of the past. I switched over to 1024x768 a long time ago for one reason; 800x600 designs have nothing to offer, its too little space to have anything, and directories need to have everything.

Before 1 year I was also using 800x600 but now I am using 1024X768

I have seen newbies in India using only 800x600

For 1.757.910 unique visits from start of linkforever directory this is 3.9% for 800x600 resolution.

Maybe not so representative for such visits number, so then for another of my established website (not a directory):
62.468.144 unique visits from the start (4 years) - 3.6% for 800x600 res.

On other of my websites i'ts always no more than 4%.
So as someone wrote: 800x600 is past.
Personally I work on double 1680x1050 wide sceens.

Serg, I agree. I did the same thing long time ago.

Just was curious about % of directories niche.

According to Kiv's stats it is not so low after all.

Ya I agree, my dad till love the 800*600 resolution

Some people feel the bigger the better

As I did get a few mails about my design being crappy (screen resolution being the cause), I had my directory template changed to fixed from fluid.

I prefer the side scrolling that the overlapping images.

I have no idea, but by the overall reputation they have, especially on TV here, they must be visiting gay sites much more than directories.

    800*600?? my god thats like soooooo 1998, not 2008 :D :D

right, now that Ive got that adolescent jibe over with, my free hosting site with nearly 1,000,000 impressions has had (a rather high) 8.85% hits - Im putting that down to a lot of traffic from asia perhaps (dont want to sound too racist either though, perhaps there are just a lot of short sighted americans...)
