What PC Should i Get?

    Well, im thinking about buying a new PC. My current one is fairly old ( hp workstation xw4000)

    All i need is a computer that can handle being run like crazy. I need it to be able to run a lot of stuff without much lag. Like running cod 5, or WoW, Firefox with 4 tabs, msn, and other programs that are using about 20% cpu and 300k memory usage without lag at all. My budget is up to about 1200$ (Whats the best i can get for that price? )

    Im also thinking of having a SCSI hard drive to run all my programs/games off of and leave another 1tb hard drive for files.

    Any suggestions?

    also, does anyone know what temperature a hp workstation xw400 starts to melt at? I came back to it today to see it running at 63 degrees Celcius.

    Go for HP, Dell or Sony depending on the available budget and select the configurations based on the need. The price is falling continuously these days...

    I think Toshiba is the best brand when we speak about PC and notebooks. I have a brilliant peace of Toshiba, and it served me very well till this moment.

    Wow I am extremely surprised no one said Alienware. AND even more surprised that nobody said to build your own box!

    Build your own, or at least order separate parts online, then pay someone to put it together, it's much cheaper that way (or, if you think that way, you can get a much stronger machine with the same money).

    well, im sure i could put one together. I've been looking around newegg.ca, and i put all the parts i want together. But now, i can go buy the same pc at a local shop for only 100$ more. (Its 1079$ on newegg and 1179$ at the local shop) should i order it online still? the only difference was i got a heatsink, cpu fan and an extra 80 gigs on the newegg one.

    I have a few recommendations:
    S15-9604 :: Sparkle Calibre GeForce 9600 GT OC Dual Fly - 1GB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card (2.45 lbs)
    $144.99

    S457-1116 :: Masscool 8WA741 / Socket 775 / Copper Core/Heatpipes / CPU Cooling Fan (1.05 lbs)
    $34.99

    P33-6024 :: Patriot Warp 64GB Solid State Hard Drive - SATA-300, 2.5" (0.45 lbs)
    $179.99

    B69-1013 :: Intel G35EC Quad Core Barebone Kit - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66Ghz OEM CPU, 8GB DDR2-667, 750GB SATA II, DVDRW, Mid-Tower Case, 450W PSU (23.708 lbs)
    $499.99

    TOTAL: $859.96

    This is from tigerdirect.com. I use the Canadian site for my orders. Get a good basic barebones deal then add other components. The best CPU/Motherboard combo right now is the i7 but it is too expensive for your budget. I added a SSHD to use as your main OS load, as it is faster more stable and cooler. A good dual output 1GB video card rounds out this unit. You willl have some extra to look for 1 or 2 monitors to add to the order. I just went over the available equipment with no preference or check of the reviews. Please use as a guide only. The OS to run is your choice, this will run Windows 7 quite well based on specs.

    Good luck hope this helps.

    PCs are not worth the powder it would take to blown them up. Buy a real computer, not a toy.
