The initial stages where you HAVE to be patient and not get disappointed at the lack of visible results.
1) SEO 2) Original Content 3) Staying Focus 4) Writing Articles 5) Marketing 6) Not chasing the next big thing.
I'd be rather surprised if most of the pain points people mention are not related to the complete bull that many in the IM community repeatedly spew out like inane parrots, assuming it to be fact. Indeed it's hard to see past all the noise of the bullshit like "PageRank", "Position on Google", "Keyword Optimization" (which are outdated, incorrect and no longer useful in any way whatsoever) ... and then the other noise of "This eBook shows you how to make $$$", "Make a list", "This Little Trick.." (which are also bollocks) ... and then the 3+ year old threads which continue to dominate the top of the forums with people parroting the same old dumb shit to get post counts up. I truly feel sorry for anybody who's trying to set out as an internet marketer these days, the sector has been torn from it's technical fact based roots, and now sadly just tumbles along picking up whatever strays get in the way, spinning them around in a self perpetuating cloud of bullshit.
The disadvantages in internet marketing would be, aside from a worldwide range of competitors, security issues. Because of some incorrect internet security stereotypes, some people are more careful with purchasing online and putting in their credit/debit card numbers. Also, updating can be quite a task specially when you have a lot of products. Sometimes, you find yourself spending more time and money than you expected to keep up your site.
I enjoy many aspects of IM, but a tricky area is list building, I love on and off site SEO all day long...................... but am having major tech issues with my ISP in the UK and with hosts in the states so all the time I feel like I am on a support issue ticket of some form which is causing me many problems with software and optin forms etc etc............... so if anyone knows of a good UK ISP that does not block "stuff" betwenn UK sites then trust me I am all ears!!
The fact that it doesn't always work, it's slow (actually this is an advantage because it causes a lot of people to quit which makes it easier for you to beat them, but it depends on how you look on this), and it takes a long time to get results because the internet is so big.
The biggest pain point for me is dealing with Google You never know what these people are going to do next.
I want to be installing the software on all 1300 machines by hand?!? Not sure how others put out software, we have a single image for all hardware on site so all machines have an identical software load... thus where ever the student staff log on their experience is identical. We only add software to this base image annually, so if there is no MSI, it doesnt go on. I / my team dont have the time to build MSI's for other people software. - Software that requires a database of the students to be uploaded... we have a number of apps where staff need to 'enroll' their classes... this ends up on my desk as teaching staff don't have a clue how to do it. However they will be the ones who have had training if anyone has so I have to start frm scratch trying to learn someone else's software. Not sure what the answer is, its just annoying... a link to SIMS or similar school management suite maybe?
