What paid directories do you use?

Is anyone using Yahoo! or are they too expensive?

We get between 1200-2000 unique visitors per day. Weekends are usually the slower 1200-1400 but the week days have been good.

 

I actually wouldn't worry about PR with a directory listing. Yes, it's nice to a see a well-scored green bar, but remember PR can go up or down - usually down.

A lot of people submitted to Bluefind *just* because they wanted a link with agreen bar. A few months later, they had spent $50 for a page that is no longer cached, let alone has no PR.

In my opinion, the SEO benefits of submitting to a directory are:

1. It helps widen your spread of in-bound links across a wide range of IP's;
2. It provides an on-topic link, so your site is associated with keywords and links to sites preferably of a decent quality;
3. Directories such as Wow and Platinax offer multiple geo-targeted links for a single submission, which may well become important for local search

While PageRank has become less important, issues of wide-IP linkage, on-topic links, and also geo-targeting have become increasingly important - with search evolving into a local and personal search platform, links using such factors as above I'd say were definitely of importance to get now.

Can you tell us why? Are you listed and have you seen increases in SERPs that you relate to it or does it provide you with targeted traffic?

Needed a good link to make a brand new site trusted by Google and got what I paid for.

 

Yes I am listed but not in the correct category and is the main reason am not getting any traffic at all.

I believe a Web Design directory should be listed in Computers/Internet/Web Design & Development but it is listed in Business/Business to Business/Design/Graphic Design

They even offered me an additional free submission but am not HAPPY

 

So far I have only used Bigall

 

botw.org is a quality directory in my opinion. Good backlinks and documents in each directory. The price is a bit high ($40 a year) for 1 link but then they do offer a free submission.

 

My VOTE is for BIGALL and SITE-SIFT

How much for what kinds of keywords?

 

getting traffic from directories is not important, I think since there are very few directories which send your targeted customers to your site.

80% of the time it is your competitors

 

Even dmoz doesn't sends much traffic but helps a website ranking
