Tricky Question: My House: Webserver: Mandrake 10.1 Work Machine: Windows XP File Server: Windows 2000 Server
Anybody with XP tablet? I have: XP Home XP Pro XP Tablet 98SE Yeah, waiting for Linux to be a reasonable option for an illiterate as me...
What's that like - How good is the handwriting recognition? About a Month ago... Erm, you know.. We met - chatted - blah blah etc...
...Get's ready to leave the forum. They say that over 95% of the people in the world whom own a computer, run on Windows. So, I'm rather impressed with the people on this forum. In my Family, we currently have 2 Windows, a Mac and a SUSE linux.
SEbasic, to be honest, I don't use it as a tablet, except when I'm walking down the streets and looking for an open wifi network (very rarely actually but great fun) Why a tablet? Because I said it was cute when I was looking into replacing the laptop that was stolen from me. My GF, that's lightning fast at making decisions when shopping, unlike me, and bought it for me before I could make up my mind. I never said that I was just curious. Anyway, I did try hand recognition at the beginning, I think it wasn't that bad, but I'll try again in the next few days when in the US I can't work and I'll have more time for that. I'll let you know. BTW, it's a Toshiba M200 Portege.
Thanks - I'll maybe pics some point soon. Yeah do - I'd love to get one myself if it worked well... Thanks
Coincidentally, I saw this device called an Acecad DigiMemo (see below) in a local store a couple of days ago. It lets you take notes on a special pad and transfer them to a computer. Very light and costs about $100 - much cheaper than a tablet computer. You write on paper that's placed on their tablet with a special pen. http://www.techworld.com/applications/reviews/index.cfm?reviewID=296&productid= http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/review.php?reviewId=1132
I am on win2k , the second machine and laptop are on xp pro corporate edition, the spare machine that my 6 year old uses for web access and playing games is on win 98se .
That's a pretty funky idea - thanks for the links... I wonder how good those things work... There is still something very inviting about the concept of a screen you carry around with you and can watch movies on etc... Some of those tablet PC's seem pretty cheap these days too... Mac first - then Maybe another MS machine I think
You guys are going to hate me, so sorry if I bring up the subject in public, but I have to. For the post above I got the weirdest red rep. Anonymous of course. But with a comment: So a Bill Gates fan I suppose, as if he stole the money or gives you no other choice for the OS. Or was it godd old Linus T. himself? Anyway, no big deal, only I wonder if any others got the same, and I would like to promise a green rep to that same guy if he says who he is and why he did it, just for pure curiosity... I can only afford Windows for the time being...
