What % of sales lost to adsense on your website

    Hello,
I have this feeling I lose sales to adsense I guess paranoid is the word I do have some adsense adds but not on my home page. I know what some people say that if your site is good enough not to worry. I just use a template based web builder to design my site with affiliate links and found I could not utalize some of the adsense configurations. I think I might try to optimize my adsense and put it on every page. I understand matching the color to blend into the look of your site is important.. Any feedback would be appreciated

It is true that Adsense ads take your visitors away from your site, maybe to never return. So, if you sell a product on your site, there is a delicate balance between keeping visitors on your site versus letting them click on ads. Only you can determine how this balance should work for your particular site.

It is this exact reason that Shoemoney started up ShoemoneyAds.com. Run adsense like ads on your site, but use your own offers. Pretty simple and brilliant idea.

If I were you, I'd only use adsense ads on pages that aren't converting- and then only after trying to get conversions. You'll make more money on your own products, so always prioritize that!

I have never understood why people that sell products or services have Adsense ads on their site.

AdSense can be beneficial to some e-commerce sites if implemented right. Read this study on adsense.blogspot.com: http://adsense.blogspot.com/2006/04/woots-up-in-revenue-that-is.html

    From that page:

Of course Google is going to tout Adsense on a page. However, I'm not sure that "offering a user a similar product before they make a purchase decision" is a good strategy.

"And after the product has sold out, they can find other places to buy it" is certainly a stronger argument for using AdSense on Woot. Products there get sold out by around noon and then AdSense earnings kick in :p

I wouldn't put Adsense on an E-commerce site. If it is an affiliate site it makes more sense, but if I'm actually selling a product I don;t want any interference with conversion or sales.

I only put adsense on my content niche sites.

For my other sites that sell products or services I don't want people leaving the site to a competitors through an adsense ad.

Not every page on an ecommerce site earns its money for you.

So you have to decide what's best to do with those...

    1. Try to get them to other pages that do sell?
    2. Focus on getting email?
    3. Monetize with AdSense?

Even if you try #1 or #2, some % will just leave the site- AdSense gives them an option to try something you may not be able to give them, and you get paid for the click.

It's not always that simple. I both sell a product and use Adsense, but my site contains many pages, some content and some sell the product. Of course, I don't put Adsense ads on the product selling page. Many visitors come to the site from organic seach engine results that indicate they would have no interest in my product. Rather than let them read my content and leave, I would rather they clicked on an ad or two first.

If I sell an item on a site I refuse to put adsense on the site ( for this reason ). I do make some sites specifically for adsense, but have never made much money on it.
