what number of maximum URL sitemaps support?

    I have this textual file sharing website...i am also offering users to search from files that are already uploaded....and want them to get into google index too....hence..i am maintaining a sitemap....!

    This sitemap has already 2000 plus urls and growing..., i wanna know what is the limit for urls in sitemap....

    But would it be easy for google to download 50,000 urls at once?? can you please quote any google official? i didnt find any

    you can split it into some little sitemap files and submit them to google.

    You can provide multiple Sitemap files, but each Sitemap file that you provide must have no more than 50,000 URLs and must be no larger than 10MB when uncompressed. These limits help to ensure that your web server does not get bogged down serving very large files.

    f you want to list more than 50,000 URLs, you must create multiple Sitemap files. If you anticipate your Sitemap growing beyond 50,000 URLs or 10MB, you should consider creating multiple Sitemap files.


    A Sitemap index file can list up to 1,000 Sitemaps.
