So a week or so ago I received a submission declined email from a free directory I had submitted to - maybe a year ago. Actually I received the same email on three different sites all at the same time. It was actually pretty rediculous so I thought I would share it and see if anyone else had examples of rediculous stuff like this. This free directory was at one time paid and fairly well known also. Over the past year it is hardly even active and fallen off the radar. So the three submissions were not good enough for a free listing on their hardly even active site, BUT every single one of those three was still eligible to pay for their other offer of contextual link building service.... Yep I am surely going to run right over and sign up for that one. Do these people seriously think that anyone is going to purchase link building services from an email notice of submission denial? Anyone have any other examples?
I've seen this too. Had to laugh at the sheer stupidity of the marketing tactic. Sad part is that you just know there are rubes that fall for this nonsense.
Infact you must recommend such people to add more stuff to their emails. Atleast we can have a good laugh! Last time I remember had one like; Thankyou for your submission. Our editor liked your submission but could not approve it. Please pay our editor 1$ at ..........@.......... We will approve your link. Note: Email us at ........ once you pay the editor. ....
