I'm going the opposite route of asking what to promote (obvious reasons) and instead asking what to avoid. I'm looking at getting back into affiliate marketing and just want to know what niches are really low on the affiliate marketing totem pole. Thanks! Al
Yes, those that already have plenty of competition (both among advertisers/merchants and publishers/affiliates). Geno
Id say Survey companies. I had some success with promoting online survey companies in 2006 ,but a lot of people figured out that you can sign up with survey companies for free. You don't have to pay a registration fee.
Adult? I didn't even consider that. But I figure there's a huge market for that stuff. Not too sure how one goes about promoting or advertising (adwords is a no go for porn, right?)
There is no right answer for this. One man's junk is another man's treasure. People would always tell me AllPosters suck. I used to make $2000/month with them at one point. Not too shabby. I can't seem to convert magazines. Some people do well with them though. You may choose to stay away from niches for moral reasons, like porn or pharmacy.
There is quite a bit of competition in all of the above. You may want to look into complimenting what you're already doing in the above verticals with the promotion of STD (and similar) lab tests through PrivateMDLabs.com Anyone who has good targeted traffic may count on a private commission deal. Just PM me. Geno
Adult sites and On-line gambling -- it's because not all advertisers will allow advertising these kinds of sites.
The niches I stay away from and so should everyone else is not really affiliate programs, but are Get Paid To Read Emails Scams, Get paid to Surf scams, etc.
I tend to stay away from things that have a huge amount of competition .... and a higher risk of legal problems (you can fill in the blanks). Also offers that are plainly scams, too good to be true, etc.... Plus cheapo products where you have to sell hundreds a week to make any real money....
I think you should feel proud of what you're promoting. So don't promote anything that you wouldn't want people to know about.
