personally I play piano since I was 6 years old, now i'm 24 years and still learning the piano has a huge impact on my life
I just listened to the new Katy Perry, Dark Horse song and watched the video on Vivo.. great stuff. Very symbolic, IMO.
In another lifetime, certainly over 100 years ago, I was a teenaged, professional trumpet player. It was a fun time as I not only played in dance bandfs at parties, weddings, nightclubs, etc., I also backed up the big Broadway musicals that were on the road and came to my specific locale to perform. These entertainers threw great aftershow parties, too. Basically, as a musician, you went from party to party. But, of course, I was working a large part of the time. I once was offered and almost accepted a 6-month gig playing in the house band for a luxury oceanliner. Those trips were supposed to be quite comfortable and a nonstop party; however, I could not commit to being away from other responsibilities for that length of time, so I can't speak from direct expeirence on this. While it was mostly playing at parties and gala events, as a trumpet player I also had a more solemn duty. Several times each week I would go to a military funeral and play Taps for the deceased. It paid quite well considering that it was for just one song, but I never accepted payment out of respect for the veteran. I did have a closet full of various American Legion, VFW, DAV and other such military uniforms depending upon the specific military affiliation of the deceased. That said, in my younger years I had shoulder length hair and a bushy fu manchu moustache, so I was a very unusual looking fellow in a military unform. All in all, playing an instrument was a great experience for me. I haven't played a horn in 20 years or more, but some day I will get the time to pick it back up again. Perhaps when my last kid is out of college..
I play "computer". I've still got my Atari STe and legit Cubase dongle from the 80s. Most of my lovely old hardware synths are long gone thanks to a dumb move in my 20s. Blip beep.
I have been playing drums for 26 years. I love my rudiments ( for all drummers out there ) Para-didle !! PEACE
Self taught guitar player, wrote a song or two and actually recorded the track but not lyrics. Some strange pains when I play atm so giving it a break, but I love it!
What kind of Atari did you have? I've never known anyone with an ST who didn't have a copy of Cubase. Even if they never used it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steinberg_Cubase
I play the guitar. I have a Taylor T5 (only the Standard ) that I bought a year or two ago. I just need the Hughes & Kettner tube head to go with it!
