.ME domains sounds to me like being trendy but in the long run you may barely do nothing with them. I have seen this tendency over and over with every new extension available on the market so this time I opted for better not buying any.
I disagree - extensions like .mobi and .name were always going to fail because they have minimal brandability and are generally pretty pointless. When it comes to branding a website, in other words branding its domain name, .me is about as good as it gets if you get the right domain name, such as date.me or employ.me or whatever. However I would agree that picking up random keywords/nouns on the .me extension is pointless - things like "cameras.me" and "onlinedating.me" would be worthless in my opinion.

I personally don't see much potential in .me domains, unless they are really short and very catchy. I heard rumours that domain name extensions will be open shortly too.
